GROUPS FOR LENT – Weeks commencing 17 March 2025

Lent can be an opportunity and a challenge, so this invitation to join a discussion group could be for you.

People from North Hull churches; Anglicans, the Baptist church, Catholics, Methodists, Oasis Church (formerly the Community Church) who are joining these groups means we will share ideas which will have some differences in what we do, and some emphases in beliefs. We find out more. This year's theme is the Sacraments: baptism and holy communion. Catholics accept five other sacraments, e.g, confirmation, marriage and ordination. How do you see these? Baptism is understood as a vital sacrament by us all. Yet the exaltation at a believer's baptism is a different experience from that of a baby. What can we Methodists contribute as a gift to the wider church? The Covenant Service?

The five group meetings will begin in the week starting Monday 17th March, and meet as follows

Tuesdays, probably 7 to 8.30 on zoom. Leader: Ben Jones, Baptist minister

Wednesdays, at Oasis Church, EITHER 2 to 3.30 OR 7 to 8.30. Leader: Claire Thomas, Oasis Church who will choose the time suitable to most people

Thursdays, at Clowes Methodist Church, Greenwood Avenue at 10 to 11.30. Leader: Sylvia Usher, Bricknell Methodist Church
