The Methodist Chapel in North Ferriby, a village to the west of Hull, opened in 1878. Many changes have been made to the original building, such as removing the central pulpit and replacing the pews with comfortable chairs, but we are proud to have retained the character of the original building and to have kept it in a good state of repair. In the early days of the building, attendance of 90 to 100 was reported! In the 1970s our membership was 72 and there was a thriving Sunday School. Now we have 25 members and several friends who worship with us, so that we usually have around 20 people at our service at 10.30 on Sunday morning. We are a friendly, welcoming congregation.
If there is no minister or local preacher allocated, we hold a local arrangement service or use our recently acquired "big screen" to access a services via Zoom from another church in the circuit. Apart from Sunday, we hold a coffee morning on the second Saturday of each month, we have a Fellowship Group which meets fortnightly on Thursday afternoons and a Bible Study Group which is held on alternate Wednesday afternoons. We support Christian Aid and Water Aid and, although we are in a village location, we are mindful of the needs of those in the inner city parts of our circuit and regularly take grocery, toiletry or clothing items to the churches which minister to them.
