Hello, I’m David Speirs and I am a minister with pastoral responsibility for Bricknell Avenue, Clowes Memorial and Trinity Methodist Churches. I hail from the city of Bristol in the South West of England (I can do the accent on request!) where I went to university to study law. More recently I have studied Theology at Wesley College Bristol, the University of Exeter, and the Queen’s Foundation where I did my ministry training. Prior to being a minister I was based at the University of Exeter and was a member of the Residence Life team responsible for the welfare and discipline of students, as well as a teaching assistant on the university’s widening participation programme. Before this I spent four years in local government.
It’s been exciting coming to Hull during the City of Culture year and I have very much enjoyed being a part of that. In my ‘spare time’ I enjoy visiting places around Yorkshire, watching films and going to the theatre, travelling, singing and listening to music (often at the same time).
