Selby Street Mission
Selby Street Mission (formerly Selby Street Methodist Church) is a class of Anlaby Park Methodist Church and as such is supported in prayer and with human resources from Anlaby Park.
Selby Street Mission is part of the Boulevard Circle of churches which support one another in friendship and in purpose. Youth for Christ is also an important friend.
Selby Street Mission comes under the financial organisation of Anlaby Park Methodist and the Hull (Centre and West) Circuit of the Methodist Church.
The small, but useful church building is situated in one of the most challenging areas of the city of Hull, but is nevertheless a VERY SPECIAL place. The team who work at Selby Street Mission, promote the Gospel message in words and actions because God has specifically asked them to do so. (Luke 4 v 18).
Prayer underpins everything we do. A powerful prayer meeting meets weekly and there is a bible study, also weekly, which is well attended.
CAP (Christians against Poverty) work from an office space in the building.
The HULL Lighthouse Project uses the premises weekly as does RHM Recovery – a Christian course for people with addictions of every kind.
Lunch Club (average attendance 50 ) : Clothes Shop : CREATE (Arts café) : Community Food Project (SEARCH) : WORSHIP (on Fridays and Sundays) all take place weekly.
The newly re-furbished kitchen and shower room plus our food stocks from Fareshare serve the community around the Mission nearly every day of the week.
Whenever the doors are open we are able to offer to feed and clothe anyone in need.
