Christ Church Swanland URC / Methodist Church LEP
The church is a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) between the United Reformed and Methodist Churches. The two churches came together in 1981 using the United Reformed Church building. The church is currently part of the URC Hull Area Team Ministry which, at the moment, is without a minister
Christ Church is located by the pond in the centre of the village of Swanland in the East Riding of Yorkshire. There has been worship on the site since 1693 but the present building dates from 1803. Various modifications and alterations have taken place over the years.
On Sunday there is Morning Worship at 10.30 am with Communion celebrated one Sunday each month. Coffee is served after the service on most Sundays. On the second Sunday each month at 6.30pm there is a 30 minute evening meditation service.
There is a Youth Group from 6.30 to 8.00pm every Friday in term time for children 8–12 years. The evening comprises games and crafts with the occasional film
On Wednesdays (in term time) and on Saturdays from 10 am to 12 noon there is a Coffee Morning. The Wednesday Coffee Morning is followed by a Lunch Club for elderly residents of the village.
Christ Church is the collecting point for Swanland for the The Trussell Trust’s Hull Food Bank . Gifts of food can be brought to either of the Coffee Mornings.
