Regard for the environment is very important to us and all churches are encouraged to undertake an environmental audit and find ways of improving our energy efficiency, improving recycling, and reducing our use of the world’s resources. Two of our Churches now generate power from solar panels.
Fairtrade is a global movement with a strong and active presence in the UK, represented by the Fairtrade Foundation.
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers across the world.
Small scale farmers and workers who are marginalised from trade in a variety of ways are supported and the impact of Fairtrade on these communities is carefully monitored.
There are over 1.65 million farmers and workers in 1,226 producer organisations across the Fairtrade system.
The Hull (Centre and West) Methodist Circuit is signed up to be a Fairtrade partner as have the Churches in the Circuit.
Protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults is at the core of our faith. Safeguarding is about creating churches that are a safe space for everyone; a space where children can flourish and adults can live up to their potential.
It is about enabling everyone to come to Jesus without stumbling blocks of abuse, ignorance, fear, compassion fatigue or the failure to recognise the experiences that so many carry within our communities.
In our Circuit we take these issues seriously in developing policy and procedures including regular training so that this safe environment is available in all our churches and activities.
