Rev. Deana Button
Both Mark and myself grew up in Newark-on-Trent where we lived until we were 18. We were both active members of the Assemblies of God church there, being involved in the youth group, preaching, and the worship band (Deana). From a young age I felt the call of God on my life to attend Bible College, and after coming to faith as a teenager, Mark too felt that same call.
So as a young couple at the age of 19, we both began studying for a degree in Biblical Theology and a diploma in Christian Leadership at Mattersey Hall Bible College. This was a three year course, and during that time we were on placement in a church in Ruskington, Lincolnshire.
Little did we know that this is where God would eventually call us to take on once we had graduated and got married in 2003! We both gained our ministerial status within AoG and led the church through a building project, as well as transitioning it from an ageing, traditional congregation, to a thriving and relevant expression of church within the community.
After leading that church for 10 years, we (along with our two young children), followed the call of God once again and came to Hull to work within the Hull (Centre and West) Methodist Circuit in partnership with the Pioneer Network of Churches as Pioneer ministers.
Since moving here at the end of 2013, we have launched Mosaic Church which meets on Friday nights in the north of the city and taken active roles within the Methodist Circuit.
