The Methodist Church had pledged to reduce Church’s carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 in line with Government targets.

In 2019 the Methodist Church carbon footprint was around 120,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum for approximately 8,000 of its buildings. The annual energy bill to the Church and individual ministers is about £19 million a year.
